Mowing For Goldfish?

Before the nasty wind that we have been having for the last couple of days came about, Fritz and I spent a good couple of hours outside one evening. Enjoying the still warm sun and warm air, it was a perfect chance for me to mow the lawn.
======
After many passes I kept noticing little orange dots floating in the green grass. After seeing this strange sight, I finally decided to bend down to find out what was going on with the grass.
======
Apparently Fritz was leaving cracker crumbs as a mowing trail for me! Nah, but that would have been funny though. I guess a few crackers jumped out of his bowl whenever he would run away from the mower!

Wednesday Craft Update-Etsy Shop Finally Open!!

Great news! I finally opened up my shop on Etsy on Friday and within two hours my very first item (and only one listed at the time) sold! I was so excited!!! There are 21 items currently up for sale, so go take a peek and let all of your friends know! Here is the link...

www.ryacreations.etsy.com

I chose Rya Creations for my shop name as it would allow me to not be too specific with what type of crafting or art I would list, and Rya is my new nickname! Haha! It's actually my initials... R Y A, and I would like to thank Monica from My Life As A Mommy And Wife for helping me with the name. Her critique and support of all the different names, was helpful! And thank you also to Shey from SheyB for the inspiration to start a shop on Etsy.

I will soon be putting up a mini Etsy on my blog, but feel free to check out my shop any time!

And of course... don't be afraid to spend a little money on me either. ;)

A Surprise Garden

I was waiting and watching every day to see if there would be any flowers popping up around this new house of ours. And, to my delight there was. Ahhh... (photos taken at dusk for enhanced viewing pleasure).

A Few Things To Make Me Smile

Taza from Rockstar Diaries has wonderful lists from herself and friends of ten things that make them terribly happy. These lists are so enjoyable to read of the random bits of life that can make a person smile. And Carmen from About a girl... posted a 'things she is loving now' list a few days ago, so it got me thinking. What are the things that make me smile right now? Here are a few that I am loving...
  • Finding faces in the clouds (There is one in this picture above, can you find it?)
  • Iced tea with lots of ice
  • The sound of crickets chirping late in the evening
  • Blue pen ink
  • Afternoon rain showers
  • Survivor reruns
  • Freshly painted toenails
  • Angel food cake with whipped cream and strawberries
  • Memories of my Grandmothers and me
  • Giggle spasms from Fritz when we do our daily catch me if you can game
  • Flip flop tan lines
  • Handwritten notes

Wednesday Craft Update-It's In The Bag

I knew I needed something cute to pack my crafts in when they are purchased, so I wanted to find something cheap and plain that I could dress up to my liking. And here it is....ta da! I scrambled around looking for my yet-unopened-packed-from-the-move box of crafts, to find my stamps and ink. Luckily the color of ink that I wanted to use was one of the few that I have that had not dried up!
======
Next big news.... one of my secret new projects that I tried out and loved has been completed! Below are two flower brooches that I was quite thrilled with on completion. I'm hoping to make different styles and colors and make them versatile enough that they can be used as pins or headbands or whatever!

Sadly with having so many other crafting projects going on this week, I was only able to make three new bracelets. Here are two with the direct below one my favorite from this week. Hmm... I might need to add this to my pile!

Have a crafty week!

A Little Love From My Little Man

It's back to just me and Fritz Monday through Friday. The Hubs finally got another job after three months of no work. It is unfortunately two hours away, but hey, it's money. I do feel very blessed that I am able to spend so much quality time with my little man and I have many plans for hours and hours to be spent outside as this will be the first summer that he can really discover the wonders of nature.
=====
Fritz will be two in a few short months, and I keep thinking to myself that time has just gotten too fast for us to really hold on to it. So I want to focus on that this summer, to just take those moments and really get to know my little guy even better. His personality is coming through more and more each day and I am so happy in my thinking that I have something to do with how he will turn out in this world.

Here's to motherhood!

Absaroka Air

I've been letting things slide by me,
And I've been trying too hard to get by too easy.
But this morning when my room was only sunshine,
I think I finally made up my mind.
I'm headed back home again, on this empty highway.
I'm gonna take in that clear Absaroka air,
And let it take my breath away.
***
I've had a hard time believing
In all things that give me life.
So I've been tryin' to find some meaning.
Some words of wisdom to move my wrongs into rights.
And if faith can move a mountain,
Tell me what's going to move my faith?
But I believe in that clear Absaroka air,
Because it takes my breath away.
***
Can you ever go home again,
And find who you were back then?
Will I find the strength to remember,
All the things I came back for?
***
I've been letting things slide by me,
And I've been trying too hard to get by too easy.
But this morning when my room was only sunshine,
I think I finally made up my mind.

=====
This is one of my top five favorite songs of all time. And for some reason it called to me tonight, beckoning out, surrounding it's melodies in my memories of a very special place for me. I've been struggling with the message in this song for awhile now, just wondering if it might indeed be time to head home. To find that piece of me that has been missing for so long. Questions of who was I back then compared to now have been haunting me and something feels like this might be my chance to break free and finally find who I am to be.
=====
The Absaroka mountains are real, and it has been way too long since I have been there. Maybe that's where I could find some clarity? I'm going to try my darnedest to make it there this summer, because it's true... I just need some Absaroka air.

Oh Ice Tea, How I Have Missed You

Taking advantage of the first few days of really warm weather, I just had to get the love back on from my favorite summer drink. No lemonade for this girl here! My father and I have been known to go through two gallons in one day, we like it that much. Although, I do believe I have a wee bit of an allergy to it (thanks to my Mom-she is really allergic to tea. As in, not even suppose to touch the tea bags kinda allergic).

The first couple of times that I drink ice tea for the new season, I become sick to my stomach for a day or two. I put up with it year, after year just for that cool, crisp taste. Complaining often during the winter months for the lack of sun tea, my Aunt clued me in a few weeks ago that there is such a gadget as to brew sun tea in the house!!! Oh my, oh my!!!! I never knew such wonders existed and will have to shop around for one for the next snow months later on this year!

P.S. Please note to any and all who drink sun tea this way.... sugar and lemon... g r o s s

Wednesday Craft Update-Easy to do With the Sniffles

I have 42 total bracelets made, and I am hoping that by the middle of June for the craft show, I can have at least 75.
Reminds me a little of something that a bride would wear?

Hmmm... this scarf is actually a pink color, but looks a bit dull in this photo. I am working on a brand new crochet project that I hope to finish some by next week. We'll see if it's a knack for me, or something for the toss pile.
=====
Hopefully it will turn out good and that it can be something crochet-wise that I can sell during the summer time craft fairs. A scarf might not be ideal to sell when it's 90 degrees outside!

At 2 am...

Photo found here

In a deep, fast sleep, gun fire was rattling my closed eyes open. Blinking fast in the darkness, I realized white light was flashing through the drawn curtained windows. The walls around me started shaking, and I could hear the glass dishes clinking together in the kitchen.
=========
Finding my way through the early morning hours I peered out the back window to an amazing show of lighting. High up in the sky completely covered in clouds, there were no strikes, just color illuminating the blackness.
=========
Again a loud boom raced through our home leaving the walls shaking once more. Then again. Finally after an hour, off in the distance the lights flashing had faded from view. Of course, I had to stay up late into the hour watching the show. I am after all, a weather girl... lover of all storms.

Sundays with Fritz-The Case of the Non-Stop Drippies

Well... I think I have allergies. My nose has been drip, drip, dripping all day long for the past three days. Mommy isn't sure if I am getting a cold, or am finding the pollen outside a bit too much, especially since it was so nice this past weekend I got to spend a lot of time in the fresh air!
========
Anyways, I don't much care for the constant wiping of my little nose. As soon as it gets wiped off more comes out! I know, I know. TMI. What 'ev. Allergies suck.

Fritz signing off... to go get another tissue.

Wednesday Craft Update-A Few More From the Pile

Here are a few of my favorites that I have made over the past couple of months. I have plans to at least fifty more bracelets by the beginning of June as there is another craft fair coming up in my hometown that I am getting excited for. I don't think that I will be selling my scarves in June, but I might bring some just in case. I might try to make some non-winter ones. I do have some, but not many. We'll see!

Parting Ways.... For Cold Hard Cash

I decided that with the need of a few extra pennies to pay bills, it was time to list a few things online to try to sell. Hopefully they will, but who knows when or if? Parting with a few of the things is no big thing, like the ring below. It was a promise ring from my ex. It was the first nice piece of jewelry any boy had ever bought me, but it's time to (hopefully) say goodbye to it. I actually had forgotten about the ring, but it's out there now for anybody to buy! Selling my flute is a little bittersweet. I love music and playing it. In my much younger days, I played the piano and the flute and a bit of the guitar. Piano was always my favorite with the flute coming in second. I have since forgotten how to play and really have no wantings or plans to re-learn the flute. My dream now is to learn the cello...

Sundays with Fritz-The Case of the Easter Bunny

I hope every one had a great Holiday! The Easter Bunny did come to visit me today, and I am up late into the evening hours from all of the yummy candy!!!!!!!!! I even got to read the paper about some bunnies that got dyed to match some eggs. I love bunnies!

We had a fun dinner with lots of family, and my Grandmee and Grandpee gave me a swing. My Daddy and Grandpee made it for me so that I could have fun, but it was a tad too cold, so I didn't get to swing for very long. But it sure was fun though!

Mommy and Daddy gave me a basket full of fun goodies. I got a new truck and a new bunny and of course lots of candy!
Fritz signing off...
P.S. Maybe I will sleep tonight, but really I just want some more jelly beans!

Orange Ya Glad I'm Glowing

Some how the little tangelos and oranges looked extra wonderful to me and so much more extra delicious. Very late in the evening sun the warm glow turned from a light yellow to that deep orange hue. Yes, I did enjoy two or more right then and there. Yum...
