A fresh surprise.

We aren't ones to really make any kind of celebration on the heart day of Valentine's, I'm not an 'anti' heart day person, or a 'for' kind of one either. It's really just another day to me. But... it was a little bit of a surprise to see the Hubs walking up to the house with these pretties! I haven't had fresh flowers in the house for such a long time, so this is a double good thing. Let's make that triple has he picked out flowers in my favorite colors!

No it's not summer, but what the heck...

Camping season? Nope. But that didn't stop us from having a bit of fun on Friday evening. Finally trying out our Christmas gift from my parents, it turned into a perfect time for some marshmallow roasting. And oh! How much fun a certain little boy had!

As of today, however, we will have to wait again to add that chocolate to the marshmallows, as snow is blowing in wisps and swirls outside. Once again, every thing of the outdoors is white. I guess that means we will just have to go sledding...

Something so rare...

Boo the cat is a Mommy's boy. Straight through, no detours, only ever wants his Momma. Well, that's what I thought anyway. A few nights ago as the Hubs was lying on the couch trying to entice Boo to come see him (which happens about once every 3 years) it happened! Boo actually jumped up to his chest and started the super-paw, purring, love-ys combo that normally is my special time with Boo. Traitor. Oh well...

Congrats to the Hubs!

It's been a long, hard road for the Hubs (and me). Finally, however, all is done! Well technically school was over last Spring, but he just now got his diplomas! After many years of school and hard work he is officially official!
~~~
Thank you Hubs for making it possible to let me be a SAHM. Your hard work is paying off in the eyes of our special little boy!
Having a bit of retro fun.
It's that time of year again! When taking out the lights for our tree, the Hubs put on his puppy dog face and said "Can we use colored lights this year?". Yuck. I hate anything but white lights for my tree. But, I do have to say that the colored lights I got last year for our deck were, well, pretty. Why not for the tree?
~~~

So with colored lights and colored bulbs and hearts, here it is. One retro, rad looking tree.
~~~
And getting out the rest of the decorations, I wasn't feeling the full blown all-Holiday-in-every-corner-of-your-house-decorated thing, so only a few items actually made it out of the boxes. I have to say, it's kind of nice this way. Nice to have a simple Holiday. We won't be traveling, or having a big family dinner with 30+ people, no stresses, just...simple.
~~~

*My Mom has gotten me a Peanuts or Lucy item every Christmas since I was a Junior in High School. The one time you are the Lucy lead in a Charlie Brown musical and you get to be Lucy for life!! But... I love her!!
~~~
I found this night light last year. Could not pass it up. How fun it is to have this little happy Santa glowing every night until Christmas morning.
~~~

And here is the pies de resistance. The family heirloom. The tree in all my Holiday memories. My Grandparents did not have a very large house. It was really very tiny, so with having no room for a live tree, this silver number was purchased and sat in the corner every year behind the front door. There would be lights or decorations and smaller boxes of presents underneath, but with the simple fact that even though they had no room, they made sure they had a tree for those Holiday celebrations with that part of the family.
~~~
And lastly, but the best part of all... Fritz.
~~~
Happy decorating to all!

Let's Get the Music On!

We had a wonderful evening last Thursday when the Hubs came home a day early from work to check out the free concert. For any Idol fans (I'm not really one-sorry) Danny Jones who was on last season, graced us with his awesome voice. He is a local kid who will definitely make it very big!
~~~
The sun was warm, the music wonderful, and having family near to share the evening is everything that can make a night full of happiness.
Finding a beautiful flower garden that was not discovered the last time we went to the concert, also can make some happiness come alive.
And of course... a stop at the ducks pond. That makes Fritz smile with happiness.Can't wait for the next time...
Happy Birthday to my Little Boy
How time has flown by. Way too fast for this Mommy. My little wee one turned two today, and how sad and happy I was for this occasion. With lots of hugs and kisses and good times to be had, it was a grand b-day for Fritz. Here he is getting ready to eat his cupcakes. If you look closely his real name is spelled out! But let's start at the beginning shall we? The Hubs took the day off from work to spend it with the Birthday boy. We both came into his room upon his morning calls to us, and he was sooooo delighted to see his Daddy an extra day this week! We had not a fancy breakfast, but something just plain delicious and fun. Maple bar donuts. Yummy!
Next a few family members came over for a Birthday lunch and to watch Fritz open all his presents. Unfortunately he was a little too tired to do this at lunch so he had to take a nap early to get ready for all the excitement later that day! Here he is later playing with one of the many presents. Fritz has been stealing Mommy's golf clubs and golf balls for the past couple of weeks as they are just too much fun to play with. So Grandmee and Grandpee got him his very own set!
Daddy found Fritz a neat tool set with a tool belt. I think he was happy to find it for him so Fritz would stop whining so much when Daddy won't give him the real hammer to play with when the Hubs is working on something! It has every thing Fritz will need to help his Daddy with. That's Fritz and his Grandpee checking out the screwdriver.
For dinner we took a small drive to get some take-and-bake pizza. It was so much fun for Fritz to have an extra day with his Daddy, and especially fun when they got to sit together for dinner. Next was some swing time and a little soccer ball action. And after such a long exciting day, Fritz was off to bed and passed out in minutes.
Here's to another great Birthday my sweet little boy. I love you so very much and cannot for one second imagine you not with me. Let's have another wonderful year together and many, many more awesome birthdays.
A Tiny Buying Frenzy
With this complete overwhelming desire to change the colors in my life, I have been on a shopping frenzy. Mostly in my head, but with a few actual pieces. Here is a scarf from Afghanistan that I found at a garage sale. The lady of the sale was donated items to raise money to adopt some children from Ethiopia. Her sister is in the Air Force stationed in Afghanistan and sent her lots of scarfs from the local market to help her raise money. Man, I seriously could have bought all of them they were so pretty!
=======
I bought a new blanket for the back of the couch and a lamp shade to match. We found some serious money-off tree photos for a wall that I used the original photos to decorate Fritz's room with. The wall was looking empty but the Hubs and I have serious opposite tastes when it comes to decorating. Luckily we both liked these ones!
=======
That is part of the re-decorating-new-color-scheme thing for me, the different tastes of me and the Hubs. I realized that I was decorating the house in colors that we both liked, but the items or knick-knacks, if you will, were not my 'taste'. Not true to how I like to express myself with my surroundings. And since I am here with Fritz almost 24/7, I decided screw it!!!! I'm going to decorate the damn house to more of my liking! But, I am also not completely throwing my Hubs ideas out the window. I am still letting him help with some of the things. ;)
=======
Anywho, the house is feeling much more me. With new rugs in the kitchen and some items awaiting from a seller on Etsy, I am very excited with my house now.
Sundays with Fritz-The Case of the Rushing River (One Year Ago)
Mommy told me that I needed to post a picture from me a year ago. This picture of my Daddy and me would be one year ago tomorrow. Close enough I say!
=======
We took a drive to see how fast the Gallatin river was flowing from Spring run-off and to just have a good 'ol fun day driving around. The sun was nice and warm and the mountain air was crisp and fresh, but man was it loud there! That river was so fast and furious!
=======
Mommy said she liked to look at the old pictures of me as she thinks I was just the cutest little thing. Although I think I'm much cuter now...
Fritz.... signing off.
A Lovely Saturday
There was a free day at the local Zoo this past Saturday, and with the weather being so beautifully perfect, we couldn't resist! Fritz had lots of fun seeing different animals, and the Hubs and I had just as much fun walking around and looking at the blooming world around us.
======
The Zoo is well kept and has many wonderful paths leading to the different sections of the park. With it being a free day, of course, there were many people waking about, so it was amazing that I found one path that was absent in other voices and footsteps.
To me, peacocks are one of the most amazing, beautiful creatures out there!
Red pandas.... so cute!
Ahhh. Smell the sweetness.
Fritz giggled at the Billy Goat.
A Little Love From My Little Man
It's back to just me and Fritz Monday through Friday. The Hubs finally got another job after three months of no work. It is unfortunately two hours away, but hey, it's money. I do feel very blessed that I am able to spend so much quality time with my little man and I have many plans for hours and hours to be spent outside as this will be the first summer that he can really discover the wonders of nature.
=====
Fritz will be two in a few short months, and I keep thinking to myself that time has just gotten too fast for us to really hold on to it. So I want to focus on that this summer, to just take those moments and really get to know my little guy even better. His personality is coming through more and more each day and I am so happy in my thinking that I have something to do with how he will turn out in this world.
=====
Here's to motherhood!
Bubbly For Us!
Great news!!! We bought a house today!
It all started last night as I was looking online at listings. I noticed one that had just came on the market yesterday, and I knew...just knew that was the one. I called our agent to see if we could see it today, and since the Hubs was over working in the town that we were looking for a house in, I knew that he would be able to look at it too. Of course Fritz wasn't excited about the drive as it is two hours away, but I reassured him that if this was the one, it would be worth it.
--------
We got there right on time and were very surprised with the awesome view that the house has of the city. Quiet neighborhood, views, a nice house....perfect! A half hour later we knew that we could not pass this one up. We put in a bid an hour later, and twenty minutes after we got home our agent called with the good news! I am so relieved that the search is over, but now the real fun begins (a.k.a. more stress with now the actual moving).
--------
We have plans already for updates and things we want to change and buy, and I am sure it will be awhile before my brain will shut up enough for me to fall asleep tonight!
--------
P.S. Notice the gorgeous roses in the picture? Yep, the Hubs. He was sweet this week, and came home with them to surprise me one evening!
Just Us-Part Two
Last weekend, when Fritz was away to play with Grandmee and Grandpee, the Hubs and I took advantage of the baby-free hours and had a few dates. On that Friday night, we went to a movie that we had both been very eager to see, and of course had to get the yummy movie popcorn. It was so nice to go to an actual movie place to see it happen on the big screen, but the bad part was finding out the movie place had raised their rates since the last time we had been there when Fritz was a newborn. FYI... taking a newborn to a movie was actually quite easy as ours fell right to sleep and stayed that way! However, we would not dare to do that now.
-------------
The next morning we tried to sleep in and did accomplish not getting out of bed until around 10 am, but we had been awake on and off for quite awhile as the house was eerily quiet without having Fritz there. We had plans to go to an awesome breakfast place but decided that Mexican food sounded much better. I had told the Hubs that this should be a weekend where we try new food places other than our usual. So off we headed to our downtown for an awesome little eatery that has a fabulous out door patio, perfect for people watching.
We had a lovely quiet lunch, as when we arrived there were only two other tables filled. For a few moments we were the only ones there, but as it got closer to noon, the place filled up really quickly.
After lunch we headed over to some stores to get supplies for a couple of updates that we have on our 'to sell' list. We are still planning on moving in a few months to a different town, and I knew it would behove us to freshen up our place as much as possible to hopefully get it to sell quicker. I had planned on a lot of out door work, but unfortunately the weather decided against that. I have plans to start that stuff tomorrow, as long as those pesky rain clouds stay away for one weekend!
--------------
After the store trips, we headed home to start a few of those projects. I had gotten some paint to redo our bathroom and kitchen cabinets. We have lived here for 6 years and this was the fourth time I had done painting in the bathroom! Never again in this house!!!
After we got cleaned up nice and pretty, we took ourselves to a very nice/expensive restaurant downtown. Some close friends of ours had moved away a year ago and had given us a gift certificate of theirs to this place. This was the first fancy schmancy place that the Hubs and I had eaten at together. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was exceptional (and um, the waiter was, um, quite hot too-wink, wink) and we had a lovely, lovely dinner.
---------------
The next morning we did more house things, and I was still painting the bathroom and didn't want Fritz to have to smell it when he got home, so my parents were happy enough to keep him one more night. That Monday I drove over to pick him up and was so glad to give him a big hug as I missed him terribly.
---------------
I know it will be awhile before the Hubs and I can have another adult weekend like this. And although we cherish and love our little boy dearly, it was very refreshing to have a weekend free to pop in the car and go somewhere without having to make plans with a baby. I do wish that we can have a few days together again to just be with each other and not have to have other projects going, and I am sure it will happen some time down the road. Hopefully, though, we will not have to wait a year again!
Just Us!
Fritz is off just now with his Grandma, headed to their house for the weekend. The Hubs and I have only been alone together since Fritz was born, for maybe at the most three hours? That's almost a year of not having a date night with just the two of us!
We have made plans to go to a movie tonight, and we have reservations to a fancy restaurant for tomorrow night. We plan to sleep in late tomorrow morning, and go out for breakfast before a hike in the mountains. But, sadly, it won't be all fun. We do have plans to clean and re-stain our outside deck. I also need to plant my flowers and do a bit of touch up painting on the house outside. Hopefully we can throw in a trip to the dump to get rid of the last bits of junk from our addition that we did over a year ago!
----------
Cheers to us for having a grown-up, kid-free weekend! (We will miss our little guy though, don't worry).
My Favorite Two
Father's Day is fast approaching, and it will be the first official one for the Hubs. I already have an idea for a present for him but won't be able to share it with you all until after the day as the Hubs does actually read my blog!
--------
This picture below is one of my favorite ones of my two boys. Fritz was only six months old and his hair had only begun to sprout. Compared to now he was definitely a bald baby!
Tea for Two and Pretty Rocks for One
The weekend spent at my hometown was long, tiring, and good! The garage sale was a success and when I went out to look at some of the other places that were selling there treasures, I discovered these lovely tea cups. I have always been in love with these delicate services and wish that we would still take tea in them nowadays! I have passed by them in antique shops and seem them at other sales but since I already have a ton of different kinds of collections, I have passed on purchasing them. But when I saw these two I gave in!!
-------------
When I showed my father my awesome find, he informed me that my late Grandmother Mary use to collect tea cups and saucers as well. He told me that he thinks he has her collection somewhere in storage and that I could have them when I have more room to make a formal display out of them.
-------------
Also my other late Grandmother Dorothy, had beautiful tea cups as well. My Grandfather still has them so I can still peer at them behind the protective glass cabinet and appreciate the interesting beauty that all of her collection has.
My first official Mother's Day was very special! Fritz (well, his Daddy) made me a cute little hand-made card and bought me some turquoise jewelry. I got a lovely necklace of the beautiful green stone mixed in with a different kind of stone that I have to drag out my geology books to figure out what kind it is. I also got turquoise earrings and a pretty pair of lace-agate and sterling silver earrings. The turquoise set matches perfectly the bracelet that I had bought at one of the sales. Now I have a matching set! Of course I will not be able to wear the necklace for awhile yet...Fritz and his little fingers are still a little too grabby for my liking, but the earrings are small enough that I can wear them anytime now!
-------------
Thanks to Fritz and his Daddy for making a lovely day for my first Mother's Day! Love you two!
My Hubs and His 3 Pictures
The Hubs is not much of a photog, rarely ever picking up a camera and when he does? He is the type of photographer that cuts peoples heads off! He did however capture three images which I absolutely fell in love with. The first one is my all time favorite. It is maybe a half hour from our house (near Palisade Falls/Hyalite Lake Canyon) and I can't wait to go back there this summer!
These next two are over in The Breaks in Eastern Montana. He goes there for a couple of days each year to look for antler sheds and to hang out with the "guys". Eastern Montana has a completely different look from where we live closer to the Rockies. It still has its beauty though!
There are Elk in the background of this photo. I am positive that when the Hubs went to take this pic he was jumping with excitement. He usually cannot contain himself when he sees these huge, glorious animals. (you might have to click on the image to make it bigger to see them)
